DIY FREE ORGANIZATION HACK | UPCYCLING DIY | DIY PILLBOX | DIY SEWING KIT | DIY POCKET ORGANIZER

Are you looking for a free and easy way to organize small items around your home? This DIY Free Organization Hack is not only budget-friendly but also eco-friendly! By upcycling materials you likely already have at home, you can create a DIY Pillbox, Sewing Kit, or Pocket Organizer to keep your essentials in check. Whether you want to organize your medication, sewing supplies, or craft tools, this upcycled organizer is a perfect solution. Let’s get started on this fun and functional project!

Materials You Will Need:

  • 2 Lids from Disposable Washcloths or Baby Wipes Bags (these will be used as the base and lid for the organizer)
  • Scissors
  • 1 Piece of Cardstock (I used the cut-out from an empty box of alcohol pads, but you can use any sturdy paper or cardboard)
  • Gift Wrapping Paper (I used remnants from my stash, but you can get creative with any paper you have)
  • Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Ribbon for Embellishment (optional, for a decorative touch)

Total Cost: FREE (Using materials you already have!)

Step-by-Step Guide:

Step 1: Prepare the Lids

  • Start by cleaning the two lids from the disposable washcloths or baby wipes bags. Make sure they are free of any leftover residue.
  • If the lids have any labels or branding, you can remove them using a bit of warm water and a sponge or simply cover them with gift wrapping paper for a fresh look.

Step 2: Create the Base and Lid

  • Base: Take one of the lids and place it face down on a flat surface. This will be the bottom of your organizer.
  • Top: Take the second lid and keep it as the top of the organizer. You can decorate it or leave it plain, depending on your preference.

Step 3: Cut the Cardstock for Dividers

  • Use the piece of cardstock (or the cut-out box of alcohol pads) to create dividers for your organizer. The dividers will help separate the different sections inside the pillbox or sewing kit.
  • Measure and cut the cardstock to fit the inside of the lid. If you're making a pillbox, cut the dividers to create small compartments; if you're making a sewing kit, you might want larger sections for spools of thread, needles, and other sewing essentials.

Step 4: Cover the Lids with Gift Wrapping Paper

  • Now, let’s make the organizer look pretty! Cut your gift wrapping paper to fit the tops of both lids.
  • Use hot glue to attach the gift wrapping paper to the lids, smoothing out any wrinkles or air bubbles as you go.
  • Tip: If you want to add an extra layer of protection, you can also glue a layer of clear contact paper or laminate over the wrapping paper to make it more durable.

Step 5: Assemble the Organizer

  • Once your paper is securely attached, use hot glue to attach the dividers to the inside of the bottom lid (the base). You can arrange them however you like depending on the size of the items you plan to store.
  • Glue the top lid to the base, ensuring that it fits snugly. The dividers inside will hold your items in place.

Step 6: Add a Ribbon for Embellishment (Optional)

  • For a cute touch, you can add a ribbon around the edge of the organizer. Cut a piece of ribbon to fit around the perimeter of the lid and glue it in place. This will give your DIY organizer a more polished, finished look.
  • You can also tie a little bow on top of the lid if you like!

Step 7: Let the Glue Dry

  • Allow the glue to dry completely before handling the organizer. This should only take a few minutes if you’re using hot glue.

Creative Ways to Use Your DIY Organizer:

Now that your DIY Pillbox, Sewing Kit, or Pocket Organizer is ready, here are some creative ways you can use it:

  1. Pillbox Organizer: Perfect for organizing your daily medication or vitamins. The dividers can separate different types of pills, and the compact size makes it easy to take on the go.

  3. Craft Supplies: Use it to organize small craft items like beads, buttons, sequins, or other tiny supplies.
